Now at Polo at 72 and Madison
I just bought two pairs of EGs; A Black Whittier captoe oxford with a type of U throat and a dark Oak Borden penny loafer with a split toe.
They were $850 reduced to $499, with lovely trees (worth at least $100) included. Quite a bargain.
It seems as if Polo may be getting rid of all its readymade EG's, but I did not directly ask. Most of Polo's shoes are against two walls (one display of sale shoes and one of regular priced ones). There is also a small table display with 4 EGs on it and a sign saying that these can be ordered bespoke. The non-sale wall has no EGs on it-just 15-18 others (mostly Italian). The sale wall of 15-18 shoes is about 40% EGs-the two I got, plus the oxford in brown; a tassel loafer in burgundy and side elastic plain toe models in black and brown. All are priced at the same $850/$499. They also have a black crocodile EG oxford reduced from $5,000 to $2,999.

Any idea who makes the Ralph Lauren shoes that had a $565 retail and $399 sale price? They didn't look like EG to me.

As an FYI I went to the mansion today on 72nd and the EG's on hand are mostly in the size 8-9 variety, nothing in 13.

Probably Crockett & Jones, if they are "Made in England" but are not Green's.

I was at the mansion today. The $595 shoes are indeed C&J. Jerrysfriend, I think you took the last pair of the whittier in 10--no more size 10s left.

A somewhat random aside--I saw the owner of Ben Silver (don't remember his name) crossing going to the RL mansion w/ his wife. Sharp lookin' guy. Light blue/white gingham shirt, khakhi 120s wool pants, tan belts, tan sneakers, and tortoise shell specs.

Tan sneakers? I hope you accosted him and gave him the 3rd degree........

Absolutely unacceptable, from a person who knows better.

I dropped by the RL Mansion right after the Weston sales. I love side elastic plain toe called Eden. The chestnut/tan is much more beautiful the black. Any chances there will be further reduction on those RLPL?
