EG vs. RLPL sizing....

I have a pair of the RLPL Pearsons (or Piersons, can't remember the spelling) in a D fitting on the 82 last. I wear a D fitting on the 888 and the 606 lasts. The salesperson at the EG store told me that I should take the same fitting on all 3 lasts, yet the RLPL 82 seems too narrow, even uncomfortable. I assume that the RLPL and EG sizing on the different lasts are the same; ie, an 8D in an RLPL 82 last is the same as an 8D in an EG 82 lasted shoe.

What are your experiences in the sizing of the 82 last vs. the 888 and 606 and RLPL vs. EG?

I find the 82 to fit the same as the 888. If anything, they may be a bit narrower at the toe but I don't think so. No experience with 606.

I also don't find any sizing variance between RLPL and EG.

I wear the same for the 82, 888 and 606. Are you sure your RLPL aren't on the 89? I find the 89, like the 808, a bit too narrow.

You find the 89 narrow? I thought the consensus (along with my own experience) was that it was wider than usual.

Hmm - could just be me then if there is already a consensus. I find the 89 close at the toebox.

I will double check the last on the Piersons (or Pearsons). Pretty sure it is the 82. The 89 is a weird fit for me in that they are a little too long in my normal size. I definitely find my Piersons on the 82 in a D fitting to be too narrow.

At the last EG trunk show, Hillary told me that the 82 and the 888 fit similarly.

My 888 in EG and RLPL fit similarly, with the main difference being the wider heel of the RLPL.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
