I picked up a pair EG Malverns in Chestnut a few weeks ago, and based on this:

    http://centipede.web.fc2.com/CATALOG...R/leather.html

they appear more like scotland calf than antique calf: no antiquing, almost a cross-boarded texture to the leather. What, aside from visable aspects I just mentioned, is the difference between these two leathers?

The only difference I'm aware of is the subtle texture of the scotland calf. It's more of a country look than regular calf but polishes to a higher shine than country calf.
