I usually wear a size 11 D/EU44. What size do I need in EG's? Should I go for a size 10 UK or a size 10.5 UK in an EG 202 Last?

Thanks!

An American 11D should fit perfectly into and EG 10.5/11 D.

If you just bought the EG brown suede brogues off Ebay, thanks for removing the temptation.

yes, I did. Nice shoes. They are slightly narrow, but a good length. Actually, my feet are slightly wide!

Picked them up in person from the seller - intriguing person. He told me I was silly to spend that much money on a pair of shoes.

This is more or less true, although in the United States "D" indicates medium or "standard" width, while in England "E" is the standard width, with "D" implying a slightly narrow width.

I would say an American 11D should fit into an EG 10.5/11 E is technically more correct.

I once asked Tony Gaziano (who designed many of the Edward Green models) about this somewhat confusing subject. According to him, the Edward Green shoes on the 888 and 82 lasts have the E width as being standard, or medium. This is also true for his range of G&G shoes--E is standard, not wide.

However, the 202 last is supposedly slightly fuller, and wider. A "D" on the 202 last is almost medium width, according to Tony. I personally find the 202 last in D width to be somewhat narrow.

Naturally YMMV, and there is no substitute for trying the shoes before making any purchases.

I bought a MTO 82 in a E width for that reason, and I wish I had not. It is too wide. D fits me better.

The point is, I seem to take a D in all EG lasts, the "wide" ones as well as the "narrow" ones.

Factory marked D. I assume that is a British D.
