The ¥4000 jeans I bought at Uniqlo last year are wearing out. I thought I might take the opportunity to get myself a higher-quality pair that will last longer. I'm looking at these: http://edwin-ec.jp/disp/CSfGoodsPage...e=&rowPerPage= They're Edwin 503's, "New Vintage" series. Regular Straight fit, one wash. They appear to use selvage denim, but at only a little over ¥10000, I don't know whether to believe it. What does SF think?

Believe it (they are selvedge denim).

As for whether they are worth the price, the fact that they are selvedge says little about the actual quality of the denim.

Edwin jeans tend to be excellent value, they were one of the first vintage-style denim manufacturers in Japan and they also make the excellent Lee and Wrangler repros. Personally I hate the coin pocket selvage, but the detailing and the denim look excellent for the money.
