Battle of the derby double monks. Your pick and why. And before you say anything about the JL Chapel, yes I agree and I already have a pair. 1)Edward Green Westminster

2)John Lobb William I/II

EG. The design is just a tad more pleasant. The first EGs and JLs I got a chance to compare were these double monk models, and I was surprised at the time that the JL model just looked somehow less refined and the EG just better.

I prefer the Edward Green...I like the more classical look about it.

The JL looks a bit odd somehow, maybe it's the mottled colour or the cap stitching.

Another vote for EG. Not a fan of monks in general but this is an easy choice.

Based on these pictures I like the Lobb a bit better. But to be honest I don't like any double monks overall. I like the Lobb's last and the leather. I would like to see the EG on the 82, which I like significantly more than the 888 or 606 the Westminster seems to built upon.

JL for me, they look less 'chubby', and the color look good to me

Despite their similar format these are actually two very different shoes. The William in its classic brown pebble grain/double sole format is a very casual shoe. The Wetminster not so much. I like both but would wear them with different sorts of clothes.

Edit - what's up with that William II ? That faux cap looks terrible.

I find the EG & JLP to be equally interesting, but even the Westminster can be found in many guises. For instance 606 Haf sole peble grain @LSH

As for the JLP pictured that is a William II the Willam I has a propper cap, and is discontinued (only available MTO)
