I see. So the problem is that your EGs are tight, particularly in the toe box. My foot fits the 888 nicely, so I don't have that problem. The TG73 fits well, but not as well as my EG 888, which is interesting, given that the 888 was supposed to be the progenitor of the TG73.
Hell, mines a deco square which is supposed to be super tight, but mto makes it so much better. Also gg ran a free mto back then and doesn't charge for raising instep, so ur essentially paying rtw price
While eg charges a mto fee and a last adjustment fee, for a belgravia mink suede they're charging upward of $1800, but you could grab the same pair rtw on sale for around $1000 if you're lucky
I can't justify this cost, so I guess no eg for me

I bought my EGs on the bay NWT for $600. I haven't tried MTO, because so far, I don't need it with EG. I won't buy shoes online unless I know how they'll fit (I already own the last in the required size) or measurements are provided.

I also have 2 pairs of MTO G&G a Malvern and a Cap toe boot. Not nearly as comfortable as my Edward green Galway and monk strap. I'm completely back with EG

By the way has anyone ever purchased SAINT CRISPIN'S™ ? they make beautiful shoes and boots, I am traveling to Vienna to try two different models one can toe boot is in Horween Cordovan. Any thoughts ?

I don't find G&G leather to be dry or wrinkle-prone. I give them a polishing every now and then and never dose my G&Gs with cream. They have held up quite nicely. I just find them uncomfortable compared to other high end shoes. Maybe I should try a DG70 or MH71.
It takes 3 or more polishings for my new G&G's to look as good as my EG's although if you can be patient and with some saphir products you can make both EG and G&G look great.

I find EG 888 last to fit me almost perfectly. I have a pair of G&G on the R18 last, which, for me, has some hot spots. Probably needs breaking in. I also ordered a pair of Saint Crispins using their personal last service. I like the last overall, but still does not fit as nicely as the EG 888. Overall, I'd say Saint Crispins has the best quality leather followed by EG and G&G. The latter two is close enough that I'd be hard pressed to pick one over the other.

Isn’t the r18 the lower end gaziano & girling?

I had the Chelsea eg black cap toe oxford on the 888 last. I sold it because it hurt my feet.

From what I understand, leather and construction is the same as the rest of the line, but doesn't have as much work on the last and sole. They offer the R18 on the MTO service, so I'll have to take their word for it. They had an explantion on the R18 but I don't remember all the details. Regardless, I plan on doing an MTO order for G&G at some point.

For comfort I would recommend Santoni limited edition or Norwegian-welted Sutor Mantellassi.
JLs are comfortable as well, but their lasts tend to be boring.
