I have a question for G&G advocates. Compared to EG, JL, and shoes of similar quality, do you find G&Gs to be comfortable? I own two G&G TG73s, and while stylish, they are my least comfortable shoes. They fit well, they are just not very comfortable.

I will say that G&G's styling is distinctive. JLs are great, but they are not distinctive. Wearing a pair of TG73s is like driving a Ferrari, while JLs are more like a high end Mercedes.

I like my gazianos. I have 2 anthony cleverley bodies (black and brown museum calf) and a vintage rioja westbury that’re in my regular rotation. Each gets worn atleast once per week.

I also have 2 pairs of MTO G&G a Malvern and a Cap toe boot. Not nearly as comfortable as my Edward green Galway and monk strap. I'm completely back with EG

By the way has anyone ever purchased SAINT CRISPIN'S™ ? they make beautiful shoes and boots, I am traveling to Vienna to try two different models one can toe boot is in Horween Cordovan. Any thoughts ?

Ok, but how about the comfort? Do you find them to be very comfortable?
Oh, I think them quite comfortable. I think the last works with my feet. I actually found Edward greens 888 last unbelievably painful. Same with the eg loafer last. Whereas I find the gaziano stuff quite comfortable. Whereas, the cleverleys I also find quite comfortable. If they’re made by Edward green, its just a function of the last (not the quality of the shoe).

As with all things, last shape is hit or miss - comfort really depends upon how close your foot is to the original last.

Difficult to make a general assessment on which of these two brands uses the best leathers, as they offer many different kinds. So, possibly, one brand has the best grain leather and the other the best box calf, or the best suede, for example.

I read a few comments pointing out that the G&G's leather feels drier and doesn't take a polishing as well as EG's: it's not my experience.

It was also said that G&G don'd age well: I would't agree on this either.

From the G&G appreciation thread some of my pairs.

I like loafer and boot, not a fan of cordovan though, I will always prefer calf leather.

That's bad news, because I'm about to break in a pair of Inverness 888 in midnight blue. They're double soled, so I guess that will make things worse....ouch!!

I don't find G&G leather to be dry or wrinkle-prone. I give them a polishing every now and then and never dose my G&Gs with cream. They have held up quite nicely. I just find them uncomfortable compared to other high end shoes. Maybe I should try a DG70 or MH71.

I have models on the GG06, the DG70 and the MH71, the DG70 is snugger than the other two, which fit similarly.
I also have models on the Square Deco, a last that despite looking sharp an elongated fits my feet pretty good.

I have a G&G mto order, it's quite comfortable, obviously not flawless as it's not bespoke. I think it'll be the same for rtw so long I order their F width

Eg is an unmitigated disaster. I have a pair of Chelsea boots while I love them, wearing them for a whole day absolutely murders my pinky toe. I've sent it to the cobbler to stretch it out a bit but it doesn't help a lot. Loafer, fortunately, does not even fit to begin with so I'm spared of another pair of painful shoes. At the 'correct' size, the toe box is so small and instep so low it feels like I'm ripping apart the loafer any moment, going half size larger the front feels alright but it will be too long and heel slips.

Obviously I can mto them like G&G, but the price is ridiculous so I wouldn't do it

I see. So the problem is that your EGs are tight, particularly in the toe box. My foot fits the 888 nicely, so I don't have that problem. The TG73 fits well, but not as well as my EG 888, which is interesting, given that the 888 was supposed to be the progenitor of the TG73.

Thanks for the feedback. I only have two pairs of TG73. They fit ok, and aren't tight in the toe box, but I can't tie the shoelaces tightly, because that would put a little unwanted pressure on the bridge of my foot. It wouldn't be painful, just not maximum comfort. The problem is that the TG73 looks awesome. I saw a pair of Vintage Rioja on sale, and I'm tempted, even though G&G's fit is inferior to JL, EG and SM. SM Norwegian welted shoes are a delight to wear, and JL take minimum break in time but they are kind of boring.
