So recently I bought a pair of Edward Green Shoes in Dark Oak Antique Calf and I thought their quality was some of the best, but upon further inspection the shoes turned out to be a big disappointment. What made it worse was the customer service on their end was unresponsive and lacking: They never replied to any of my e-mails.. These shoes should not have passed inspection and should have been classified as defective. It appears most people on this forum have had positive experiences with E.G. but I want to throw it out there that they may be lacking quality control and customer service. Found a article about E.G. and poor resoling experiences also.

    Here is one: http://www.styleforum.net/t/226496/issues-with-edward-green-service-somewhat-resolved-update-4-5

Attached are several photos of what Edward Green deems as $1300.00 shoes. Scratches on the toe box, deep gash cut near the heel. Nonetheless, I am shocked this would pass as quality and thought I would rant on my exerience so far.

If you purchased them at retail, I agree with you. These would be acceptable as seconds, but certainly not as first quality EG shoes. Not sure if you purchased them from a retailer or direct from EG, but if neither is willing to work with you on the situation, I would return them and when the CC bill comes challenge it with your CC company.

Good questions, did you buy them directly from Edward Green or from another r/e/tailer. I only ask as I can't see any decent shoe seller as standing by those defects as acceptable. On a pair or seconds, or a pair of heavily discounted shoes maybe but certaintly not on a brand new pair of EG shoes that cost $1300. Have you contacted EG in London directly, I would.

I bought them through a retailer in california who MTO's orders every month but he said he couldn't do anything about it because I might not like the other pair he orders for me either. We have already overlookef 2 pairs that were not in the best of conditions, and sadly he couldn't convey an edward green rep to help us out when he came to visit either. Wish the higher end shoe makers would be more customer oriented..

I don't know if I would be able to reach the U.K either, doesn't it cost extra for international calls? I've tried their website e-mail multiple times to no avail. Perhaps there is a rep on the style forum I can tell about this experience.

Anyone else have experiences like this?

I would try calling them direct if you want this resolved. The extra couple of bucks for the international phone call is trivial compared to the cost of the shoes no? Not sure if things have changed, but their email response has traditionally been spotty.

Is this from Steve at GF? Pretty sure he was meeting with an EG rep last week or so.

I am reading that right? You have gotten 3 pairs in a row (including this one) that had a problem?

No, I've only received 2 pairs and this is my second pair, and yes it is Steve from Gentlemensfootwear.
I already sent the shoes back and he is giving me a refund. So much trouble for some supposed "quality shoes."

Thats some bad luck there bro.
I have probably gotten 6 MTOs this yr alone by Steve without any issues.
To be honest though i am not OCD so i dont even know if I would have noticed the things you mentioned above (I would have noticed that gash in the heel however). I tend to be hard on shoes so the other smaller things you showed would probably happen to me within a couple of wears anyways.

So you just returned those shoes for a refund? Thats sounds like the problem was taken care of. Or is it another pair you talkin about?

The problem is resolved, but I wanted the shoes not all this drama.

I hear you, its a bummer to wait that long for the mto shoes (or any shoes for that matter) and then have to send them back.

I don't see any material defects in these photos.
