Hey guys,
Can you help me understand what's going on here? I have a few pairs of EG shoes - most on the 888 last, a 184, and a 202. Lately I've decided I like the 202 for most things. On all three lasts, I wear 8.5/9 and have been happy with a D width.
Recently, I bought a pair of boots from eBay which were 8.5/9 E on the 202. I thought the extra width would be ok for boots, plus some of my 888s are an E width and that's no problem.
Anyway, I tried the boots on, and they seem like they are too long. I did a comparison to my 202 shoes (black Canterbury, 8.5/9 D) and it appears the boots are about 1/2 size longer. Could this possibly be right? Is the width difference affecting the length? Is one of these shoes/boots mislabeled with the wrong size (no way, right?)?
The boots are on a Dainite sole, while the shoes are single leather. That makes a difference in the overall "footprint," I'm sure (with the Dainite being larger), but these photos really seem to show that the upper of the boots is longer than the upper of the shoes. This is borne out in how they feel - the boots are just a bit loose, especially in the heel.
Ideas? Pics below. In the comparison shots, I have pushed the heels up against a wall to compare lengths.
