I swung by the Claymore Shop (Birmingham, MI) on my way home this evening and found that I had stumbled upon the tail end of a shoe sale. Apparently they had had some stunning Edward Greens and Aldens on sale, but only have a few left at this point.

Unfortunately, they didn't have my size, but always thinking of you mopes, here's what they had left in EG:

"Buxton" Loafer in chocolate suede (looks similar to a Lobb Lopez loafer). US D widths, on the 61 last. PRICE IS HALF OFF OF THE LIST/RETAIL OF $1095 AND THEY THROW IN A PAIR OF EG LASTED SHOE TREES ALONG WITH THEM.

Sizes left are: 9/9.5, 9.5/10, 10/10.5, 10.5/11

They also have two or three pairs of Alden chocolate suede monk straps (also half off). I didn't write down the sizes on those, but I think they were between 8.5 and 10.

Call 248-642-7755 and ask for Charley.

is it the 65 last or the 101? You said 61 last, but looking at skyvalet's website for MTO loafers, 61 is not a last option. anyways, thanks for the heads up on this.

61 and 65 are both loafer lasts. One is for lined loafers, the other for unlined. The toe shape is the same.

I have seen these exact shoes, in that shop. They are Coffee Suede. They are on the 61 Last, which is unlined. The shoes are Edward Green D width, which--as has been discussed in other threads--is somewhat narrower than a typical US D.

Might be; nice decision to have to make.
