I'm not convinced the HK Berluti staff can do a good custom patina. I'd love to be proved wrong on someone else's dime.

HK Berluti does not do custom patina. According to them, the only place in Asia that does custom Berluti patina is in Japan. Though this information is a couple months old.

What are the prices of JL and Santonis in HK?

I was in Lane Crawford, Pacific Place on Thursday - JLs were 8500 to 10000HKD. Nothing on sale...

I didn't really pay attention to the Santonis, most of them were a bit too 'wild' for me. I had a bit of a browse round. Bally continues to disappoint, most of their shoes are so flimsy whilst the Scribe lines looks to have better construction but are boring. Church's didn't inspire much in the way of 'oohs' or 'aahs', nothing like say, the C&J Weymouth.

The Hermes shoes were okay, some were quite nice but overpriced. The selection of JLs in the airport Hermes shop was the biggest I'd seen.

Sounds like I might get better shoe deals up in Tokyo or even Seoul with those prices...?

Prices are not great. Eg Ferragamos are pricey to begin with, Tramezzas are 5-6000HKD but in the sale that ends today, a selection are half price, which isn't bad. I was tempted to get a two tone Oxford/captoe - brown captoe with light grey body. I was going to 'darken' the whole thing as the original look would be too funky for me. It's sitting in their back room whilst I muster up the energy to go, it was a long difficult night at work.

most of the santonis in lane crawford are of the blake constructed type (orange lining inside) and sell for around US$570.00. i personally like them because, as chobochobo said, they are on the "wild" side.

i just opted to have jantzen shirts made, bought a couple of brooks bros polo shirts, a pair of church's spectators and a couple of magnanni's on the cheap. the santonis i was looking out for wasnt on sale, so i opted to back off.

    luk-cha,
pls post your upcoming pair on the forum.

There really wasn't that much to tempt me shoe wise - except possibly for a pair of alligator loafers in Ferragamo. Their selection of Tramezzas was small.

The John Lobbs at Lane Crawford seemed boring - I'd been hoping to see some of the wholecuts. Bally and Churchs continue to disappoint.

I guess I'm saving up for my next holiday... in New York. I don't suppose there'll be any sales in early October? [IMG]

Really? Then you really must put them up for us all to see. I hate Jantzen in-store because ITS SO BLOODY CROWDED in there every time I go there. You feel so rushed to do everything and as a result I always miss out something I wanted to try.

another thing is they are very crass in the hong kong friendly kind of way. I would never bring my girlfriend there even though she wants to make a couple shirts
