THe real question is whether EG/GG will be having fire sales because their business has been horrible lately. Or whether they will just tough it out and accept abysmally low revenues this year.

Do we really want two pretty small companies whose products we like to have a horrible year resulting in their selling at pretty much a loss? That's tantamount to nudging them out of business, and then no more cheap RLPL EGs for the vultures ever.

G&G still has trouble delivering shoes within five months after receipt of an order, a condition that was still true as of last week.

A little softness in their order flow, if it existed, might reduce the backlog but that's all.

Being slow at delivering a product doesn't mean you don't need the cashflow...

Comes down to their managements anticipation of this global slowdown as well outstanding debt & cash reserves. A lot of people manage in a style that thinks good times will always roll, hopefully some of these high quality artisans saw this coming and are prepared.

The real answer is both companies are privately held and we have no idea what their financial condition really is. They might have cash flow issues and they might not. If we venture a guess, we are merely speculating. The best policy is to continue doing business with these companies if the desire to purchase their products and the means are still present. If they are not, then don't buy.

It is their decision based on sales, backlog, etc to adjust the price of their products. Anything other than that is just speculation. As a consumer, one should strive to buy their products, if we want to, at the best price possible.

It's all so clean and simple that way. We don't have to do any speculating or analysis of someone else's financial condition which in the end is none of our business.
