One could argue this should have been the first EG I buy. Ah well, better late than never.

They are in the same size and width as my Cranleighs which are also 202D, however they feel considerably more snug. Not sure if it's the pie crust on the Cranleigh that makes a difference or the Galways have just come out a bit tighter. Either way, I took them out for a test run and they fit great, very comfy. The unlined shaft is a godsend.

Aesthetically though, they are quite a bit smarter than the Cranleigh given the flat 280-degree welt and the upper material, which is what I was aiming for. They go great with jeans but will also work with flannel / cav twill trousers which the Cranleigh just can't do.

Now I'm just waiting for a pair of brown London Grain Piccadillies and I'm officially done buying shoes for this year.

I just picked up a pair of E202 edward greens, where can I get lasted shoe trees?
Edward Green's website or a retailer.

They're not lasted per se, but the general understanding is that the EG shoe trees are modelled off the 202 last so the fit should be as good as it gets.

I didn't know that!

Pretty much won't find a pair of true lasted trees from most makers. On the positive if you do have to spend more than you wish to on those trees, you can safely and effectively interchange those trees with CJ, JL, and EG.

Their "work" is being performed in the 24 to 48 hours after they have been worn, so there isn't a necessity to overspend on expensive trees for every pair of shoes that you own. One pair of trees is good. Two is probably ideal if you are able to rotate.

In the interim while the pair is waiting to be used, you can get away with a basic, neutral, and inexpensive trees as place holders.

Something like this is absolutely fine...

Sorry I don't understand the first part.

What do you mean by "work" and why would one own two pair of shoe trees for 1 shoe?

Got my edward greens!

Congrats on the pair.

The "work" is the trees assisting in moisture wicking, and returning the shoes to their proper shape. If you believe in the notion that a semi-lasted tree will perform that duty more effectively then a standard tree (the Saks tree I posted), you'd purchase the EG tree. If you are also of the belief that a tree should remain in your shoes at all times, then you would have a tree for every pair of shoes that you own. Purchasing EG trees for every one of your pairs can be costly. Using an EG tree for the critical phase, then a cheaper tree as a place holder helps maintain the budget.

I find that my CJ trees work in my JL and EG shoes. Alternatively, my EG trees work in those maker's shoes. If you own trees from those makers and want to save the money, just interchange. I've done it for years without negative effects.

I use this kind in most shoes, and ones like BColl listed in loafers. I’ve got one pair of EG trees and they are nice, but don’t offer any real further benefits IMHO. The cedar ones like those below smell great as well.

A bit of selling advice, if I may. I’m going to be shifting a few pairs and wanted opinions on whether others have found selling in the SC buy and sell successful? Or should I just stick with eBay?

Definitely eBay will be more successful but you could list on both without to much hassle. If you list on eBay make sure you do it on the promo weekends or you will be hit with high fees. SC will be via Paypal so will be about 5% fees. From memory you are an 8 F same as me so do let me know what you're offloading :p

Yes I do also own a bunch of this form as well. Whenever I found them for under $20 bucks, I would pick up 4 or 5 of them.

That’s useful, thanks.

I’m getting rid of a couple of pairs of Galways, both E width - I can’t get on with 82 or 202 Galways unless they are F width. Plus a pair of suede Sandringham, but they are 8.5 and E width.
