For the price, I'm glad they do that. There are other makers of expensive boots that are happy to send them through to the customer with flaws

From my experience buying from the factory shop EG seconds are better than other companies perfects. And you can rarely see why they became seconds either.

Can anyone ID this model? It's a split toe boot a bit like the Halifax, but it's 4 eyelets instead of the Halifax's 3 eyelets. Not much clue from the sizing label - the footed logo is very faint but they are deffo Edward Green.

They're on Vibram soles, which I haven't seen all that often with EG? Made to order maybe?

Damson Utah in 82 Last, they are like butter soft compared with country calf, zero break-in period.

Halifax came in both 3 and 4 eyelets. My guess is that it's been re-soled to the Vibram

Should have gone for Galways as my first boots. But these are built like a tank, stand up great to the elements and are a close second in terms of versatility.

Can't really argue with that 😅 I have to say, most fit pics of Cranleigh have something off-putting about them that I can't quite pinpoint, compared to the Galway ones. Maybe it's the fact that they seem to emphasize a thick ankle, and the facings tend to stay wider apart.

Of course @te0o's pics are always the exception to the rule.

Just curious, why do you think Galway would have been a better choice?

For example, a mink suede Galway would have worked just as well with jeans and chinos but also would have covered flannel trousers/sports jacket combos. The Cranleighs are too rough looking for that so I can only wear them with workwear.

Obviously, one should have both. But if you have just one, it should be the Galway. It’s just more versatile.

Thanks for posting this. I would have guessed from the name that Damson would be a much darker purplish sort of color, like the plums.
