202 Alderley are pretty awesome!
On top of that it's a such a hard to find model. There are may be two shops in the world, Leffot and Gentleman's footwear, that offer Alderley as a stock model. Plus another shop that's running a unique GMTO at the moment ;)

I agree. Without the internet I wouldn’t have known that the Alderley is available. I’ve got this boot in Chestnut Utah and Burgundy Delapre

Nice. I know GF carried the Chestnut Utah makeup back in 2017/18 ... which shop offered the burgundy pair?

Skoak did some really nice make ups in mid 2010s ... including a stunning version in rosewood CC

I need Rosewood CC in my life. About the last leather I'm missing from EG. I think Annonay makes it?

Not sure which tannery supplies the leather, but it's probably my favorite leather and color these days. I recall Tom commenting on the SOH thread that EG does a lot of hand finishing on the leather, making rosewood expensive and difficult to replicate

I also believe they use D'annonay's Scotchgrain or Du Puy's while being burnishable.

Speaking of burnishable, I don't know if it is a bias of mines, but my contention is EG has arguably the best burnishing of any RTW maker.
It is neither a heavy patina where it looks silly nor so subtle one can't see a difference (thinking CJ). EG's colors and finishing are so darn elegant and tasteful.

While DOAK is my favorite, EG offers so many fabulous options that I'd wager everyone may have their own favorite.

This, exactly. It puts EG a step above everyone else, IMO.

Only two other makers, off the top of my head, who come close in terms of subtle yet beautiful colors with solid finishing is Saint Crispin's and Antonio Meccariello.

With StCs, their leathers are not as consistently flawless throughout the entirety of the shoe compared to EG. Nor are their colors as seamless, but when they get it right they produce an exquisite looking shoe.

AM is usually right there with EG in the color department. This is provided you can purchase a toned down AM. Some of his colors are louder than a heavy metal concert.

Definitely true. I find my personal preferences have evolved since September when I l accepted I won't be returning to the office in the foreseeable future. These days I'm into more casual leather and colors and rubber sole, otherwise DOAK would've been up there on my list. I bought three balmoral boots earlier this year (Redwood Shannon on 202, DOAK Shannon on 82, tan hatch grain G&G Canterbury), and will need to find a new home for at least a couple of the boots. Will probably keep the Canterbury because of double wensum sole.

I'm a proponent of tan, as it is the absolute lightest color I would select. In reality, I probably wouldn't purchase a true tan because some are too light brown for my tastes. Saying that, EG's tan color has so much depth and character that it makes other maker's tans look bland and lifeless. It makes them look as exciting as beige haha.
