Who here is interested in the Galway GMTO we've been discussing? If so, please let me know. We need a minimum of four participants to make it.

is there a final makeup? I think that is the clincher. Maybe offer three dream ideas and take a vote/pulse?

Dover in Horween saddle brown hatch grain. Stefan’s creation. If you’re curious, I find the Horween leather to be a bit thicker and a bit stiffer than the normal EG country calf. However, it is breaking in nicely. After I placed my order I had second thoughts because I remembered that I have a G&G Stamford in oak hatch grain and a Dover in walnut CC. But then it arrived and it’s a fair bit darker in shade than either of the other split toes in brown grain I have. And yes, it’s silly to have all that but whatever. Styleforum bros.

And PS, if you’re really curious, that’s the Private White/Permanent Style raglan overcoat peeking through.

Great look! You don't find it too warm down here?

I’ll be honest, I am cold whenever it’s below 50. So it was great this morning (about 35 degrees). Basically my body is 100% adapted to extreme heat. I wear a jacket and tie all summer long with little issue. But when it gets a bit chilly... :freeze:

To be a bit more serious, I have a similar coat from Magee in a donegal tweed and wore it a ton last year. That let me know this one would be fine.

I couldn't recommend it enough. It's much higher quality than the Magee coat that I have. The buttons are better, the fabric is woven tighter and is softer, cashmere lining on the pockets, etc. I also tried a Harris Tweed raglan coat from O'Connell's (Chrysalis makes it I think) and sent it back immediately. It was thin and really underwhelming. The Private White coat was the same price and a much better product. Grab one if you're thinking about it. You won't regret it.

Probably on the boring side, but I'd be interested in something in Rosewood CC
Rosewood CC is cool. However, I wouldn't recommend it as our GMTO. EG, Gentlemen's Footwear, Leffot, Dashing Chicago, and Meet The Hand offer Galways in Rosewood CC. They're easily obtainable there.

Fair enough, I look forward to seeing what you all come up with

Re our GMTO, here's what we've discussed, generally:

Option 1:
- DOAK upper with mink suede shaft;
- 72 last;
- Ridgeway sole (I'm telling ya'll, the R2 sole is more comfortable, but I'm happy to cave).

Option 2:
- Camel suede;
- 72 last;
- R2 sole.

Option 3:
- All DOAK;
- 72 last;
- Ridgeway sole.

BONUS ROUND:
- All chestnut antique calf;
- 72 last;
- R2 sole.

Thoughts?

Not that I have any skin in the game since I hope not to participate ? but once you are going for a more a rustic galway how about some kind of kudu or bison? no idea if available... just a thought. would certainly be different.

ETA: kangaroo and camel are both also very cool and a bit more subtle. recently got pairs in both leathers from GS and Viberg... recommended. Again, no idea if available.
