Okay, in a bit of a dilemma here. So Meet the Hand is running two Kentmeres with no MTO upcharge in the month of July. Both are 360 degree storm welt and on ridgeway soles. The first offering is Walnut CC with gold buckle and the 2nd is in Bronze Antique Calf with brushed buckle. I'm really drawn to the Bronze because it's unique and I don't have any EG shoes/boots in the leather but feel that it's not rugged enough for the rest of the boot. On the other hand, the Walnut CC will be perfectly rugged but I already have brown Utah Galways, which I feel overlap quite a bit with the CC plus as I'm sure a lot of us do, I just own a lot of freaking brown boots. Anyway, am I overthinking the calf being less substantial and that it may look good with a bit of a beating on it or will I be resigned to not wear them in the rain and such due to the nature of the leather making the rest of the features of the boot pointless?

Just looked at the pictures, and given that you've got brown Utah Galways, I would say the Bronze. Very interesting look. It's leather. It's EG. It won't die in the rain.

I think you go bronze because it's a cool looking boot. Something from EG in walnut calf is always going to be available. Just don't high shine the bronze calf and it'll look perfect.

FWIW I walked through the rain in my dark oak EG Berkely's two days ago and they're fine. Don't even need to polish them.

Bronze. As others have said, brown cc is common and it'll just be another brown grain boot.

Another vote for bronze calf. I’ve got Westminsters in it and it’s a great colour. It’ll need a bit more care than CC, but not that much.

I’m planning to commission a winter-only pair of Galaways. Living in a part of western Canada where there’s plenty of snow and cold temperatures for about 4-5 months of the year.

Any thoughts on the makeup.. storm-welt, shearling lining, rubber sole.. anything else to consider? I’ve already got a doak pair on the 82E last so looking for something a little different.

These work well. Veldtscheon, Ridgeway, country grain. These are 64 last but 72 more modern.

They may still be a stock model that can be ordered without an MTO.surcharge on the 72. Definitely are a stock model on 64.
