Heel slippage is usually reduced when the leather soles are broken in.
They are a little stiff when new.

My pair of EG Belgravia's in UK 10 arrived today and while trying them on I get a bit of heel slippage. I have pretty wide feet and a bit of a higher instep and it fits very comfortably at the vamp and widest point of the loafer. I am worried that the heel slippage will be persistent. Do you guys think the heel slippage will reduce when I break them in? I am quite worried that I won't fit comfortably if I go down a half size. I tried on a Piccadilly (I know its different to the Belgravia) for example in a UK9.5 a month back and couldn't even really get my foot into the loafer.

When you try on new there will definitely be tightness in the vamp but as the width expanded (just in a short while by inserting it with shoes tree for a few days) it will fit comfortably thereafter..

Although I wear UK8.5/9 E for loafer but all my other EG shoes are Uk9/9.5 E as they are lace shoes or monk strap that allow me to tighten up as I prefer shoes that r slightly roomy for more comfortable wear but loafer you can’t do so.. you need the tightness to avoid heel slip

Do you mind to take a photo of how much heel space left when u push your foot all the way forward? You should only be able to insert half a finger if u can insert a full index finger in without too much force the length is too long

It’s difficult to say for sure, but it usually reduces. If not then a tongue pad to push your foot back into the heel cup may help. Fit in loafers is always a compromise.
