I don't know about the whole resin vs. wood situation at EG. What I do know is that all of my EG shoes are half a size up from C&J, Alfred Sargent, Cheaney, John Lobb. Ultimately, the EG shoes still fit more comfortably and more snug in the right places than all the others I mentioned.
If it fits you great then I'd stick to the same size. If it was a bit large I would think about going down a half size. My older pairs are just a hair more snug than current ones, not enough to warrant any size adjustment. Obviously, ymmv but I think my experience is probably a majority of people's.I have an Edward Green Hove single monk strap in UK9/9.5 82E Last but that was an quite old model before EG change the moulding last from wood to resin. It fits me great but wonder do I still need to down half a size now if I will to get Edward green now in 82E?
It would be a non-issue for you thenOh and all of my EG purchases were within the last two years.
Second this, all my EG have to be half size larger than my JL, CJ and I d say their US size stands for the true fit instead of UK size.I don't know about the whole resin vs. wood situation at EG. That Cranleigh is gorgeous. Been thinking of getting the one in black london grain with the shearling lining for winters. How did you size yours? TTS? I am a UK 10 on the C&J 325 and 335 lasts. It's also not as anatomical as 202 or 606 i.e. it's straighter. Here is a comparison 202 vs. 32

Thanks! It's on the 202 last which I take half size up from 325. I can get away with going down a width on 202 lasted shoes, but these I wear with thicker socksThat Cranleigh is gorgeous. What would your Galway makeup be? Honestly Galway is quintessential EG boot and I'd always suggest going with that as the first oneSpeaking of Cranleigh, what do you all think of Cranleigh vs. Galway for a first EG pair of boots?
Would be mostly worn with jeans/chinos, and almost never with finer tailoring. I'm gravitating towards the Cranleigh in 202 in dark brown Utah.
I want something that can handle rainy London days and fly under the radar - so I was thinking a dainite sole on 202 with Utah across the whole boot. What would your Galway makeup be? Honestly Galway is quintessential EG boot and I'd always suggest going with that as the first one
Check out Galways on the 64/72 lasts in Utah or Country Calf. Those lasts will make the boot instantly casual. CC will hold up to rain the best imo, but Utah will do just fine plus will be more suppleI want something that can handle rainy London days and fly under the radar - so I was thinking a dainite sole on 202 with Utah across the whole boot.
I was concerned that the toe cap on the Galways is going to make them a bit more formal versus the Cranleighs given it would mostly be worn with jeans.
Thanks, makes sense. I'm going to the EG store tomorrow so will be able to try them on but 202 is about as bulky as I can go - have fairly narrow feet - which might exclude 64/72.Check out Galways on the 64/72 lasts in Utah or Country Calf. Yeah I quite like the Cranleigh even if it is quite similar style wise to the C&J Galway. Still, London grain not the same as dark brown grain so have to... ?Thanks! If you get a chance, snap some pics. Would love to see how the shop is looking post-Covid reopeningThanks, makes sense. I'm going to the EG store tomorrow so will be able to try them on but 202 is about as bulky as I can go - have fairly narrow feet - which might exclude 64/72.
