Is anyone here buying anything in the new EG Delapre leathers? Curious to know why it's not getting a greater reception. I got the Dover in Gold Delapre and LOVE it.

From the models I have seen in person and online, Delapre leather does not seem to take the trademark EG burnishing as well as their crust calf. Despite this, I think Delapre has been relatively popular.

Personally, I am not really convinced of its positive attributes. But I am interested to hear what the appeal is. Cheers.

I enjoy EG's crust leather as well. I did not care for the delapre as much as the crust leather.

The appeal, from my perspective, is that the leather is extremely supple and luxurious. While the shoe does not take on the same antiqued/burnished qualities, IMO it exhibits a certain element of luxury that surpasses their traditional crust leather offerings.

I agree that I'd prefer the regular box calf for most shoes and boots, which is also why I went for a MTO of the Alderleys in Edwardian instead of the gold Delapre version that Skoak put up (and, well, because I wanted leather soles). The colour of the Delapre just seems more "saturated" to me. That said, I think a chukka version like the Banbury would look pretty awesome in gold Delapre...
