IMHO of the triumverate of international shipping (Fedex, UPS and DHL) DHL is the most reasonable with respect to these damned fees. I've only been charged once through them. Fedex is the worst by far- very aggressive in collection and they often bill POST delivery. Basically you don't know you've been charged until AFTER you accept the package.

They send the bills to collection very quickly. Nasty stuff.

Last week received an $80 bill from FedEx for a $500 package. They'll mail you a 5x8" envelope and it ain't a birthday card

Ouch - my order from Edwards has one pair of EG and one GG plus 5 lasted trees. Hope I didn't get hit with a big bill.

I believe the import duties on shoes over $200 is 18%. So Namor's charges sound about right, assuming that part of his $500 bill was shipping (as shipping isn't taxed).

As for the shipment from Edwards of Manchester you may well be charged the duties. I was charged on the one pair of G&Gs I ordered from them.

They once charged duties to my employer's account simply because the shoes were delivered to my work address. They simply charged the office account number without any notification etc. Fortunately our accounting dept is fairly easy going and all I had to do was write them a check for it. But I won't have anything shipped to the office again.

Unfortunately we all know how to avoid this right? Stop buying shoes! Yeah, I know... "physician, heal thyself" :teach:

if EG had any sense they would just sell direct to SF, lol. i wonder what % of their global sales can be attributed to SF members and lurkers

I wouldn't be surprised if it was around 10% or more. EG produces approx. 15,000 pairs per year - I think SF could account for 1500 pairs or more. If you are a Leffot or Leather Soul customer there is a good chance you know about SF.
