NAMOR has 2 pair of every shoe he owns. He takes pictures in one pair and actually wears and walks in the others....at least that's what I think.

NAMOR, it's been a while, who has more shoes between us again?

There's three sides to this. A) They're just shoes, wear them; 2) Getting the leather uppers wet will them more susceptible to creasing, water marks, and require a shine after to look good; & iii) Dainite/Thames sole is a good compromise, since at least water won't seep upwards from the sole and soak the shoe.

I have a pair of EGs that I use as rain shoes, basically because I ordered them with the Thames sole. Occaisional polishing makes the leather upper plenty water resistant. Though they are black, and therefore much less prone to water spots.

In a hardcore downpour, I'd consider sneakers/rain boots however, no point in intentionally soaking through a pair of EGs.

P.S. They share rain duty with a pair of C&J brown suede shoes with a Dainite sole. Suede is great in the rain.
Really, what makes suede so great in the rain?

Received a reply from Horween:

"Thank you for the e mail and interest in Horween Leather Company.

The leather you are inquiring about is our Cordovan with Scotch Grain print.

We can still emboss the print into our Cordovan when requested, but we have not seen this request for quite some time as companies are focusing on filling the smooth Cordovan orders due to the limited supply in the marketplace.

In addition, at the moment we are sold out of our Cordovan leather until the middle to late part of 2014 and we are not accepting orders at this time.

You are welcome to check back the latter part of this year to see if there are any changes in our supply situation.

Please keep me posted to any questions"

So, good news / bad news, then. Thanks for checking.

Now that I look at the Galway, I don't think it's possible to construct the boot as is with shell. The calf Galway lowers is made from a single piece of calfskin with a faux stitch captoe. Im not sure EG can recreate this with shell

Good point, I guess we'll know for sure next week.

I've got my fingers, toes, and eye's crossed until then. LOL

I think it looks good.

+1 not sure what dpprdr meant by his comment

About 40 pairs? Ask me next week and I'll have a different answer

Just poking fun of perfection. Trying to decide between CC and suede...I know either one would work well.

Good point with the wholecut uppers. I'm still working on a Doak pair!

CC or suede on which, a shoe or a boot?
