Corthay is a bit too fashion forward for me. I didn't find the shoes I handled to be any better constructed than eg.

With so many awesome Galway contributions to this thread, I am finding it pretty hard to decide what make up I like the most and that should be part of a future order. Currently, I am somewhere in between dark oak/mink suede and dark oak/grain, but I am not sure. I am thinking that the suede version might be a bit less versatile. Up until recently I was convinced that the grain version was the only way to go.

What do you guys think? What is the nicest Galway make up?

hoodog - I don't think there's a "best" - but I haven't seen a pair I'd swap these for:

That said, I'd probably say the same if I owned them in blue, or in that lovely bronze shade one retailer is carrying. I don't think the suede / calf combo is any less versatile - it's a matter of personal preference - but for me, I decided that I wanted a dressier all suede bal boot as a companion to the Galway.

EG cannot do anything to the pair of shoes linked above. They were color with a gold cream polish.

Here is their response:

Dear Sir

The shoes in question were polished with a gold cream for a fashion show as you mentioned.

I am afraid it is not possible to now change the colour with any degree of success.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the EoM sale is ongoing? I would love to pick up a pair of calf/suede Shannons.

I emailed the info@ email address but posts here indicate Mark is the gentleman with whom to speak. Can someone share his contact details?
Cheers,
Paul

Hi guys,

Just picked up these babies for a song on Ebay. I imagine they'll be pretty awesome once I'm having them refurbished.

I emailed EG and they confirmed that they were made by them. However, the refurbishment comes to an eyewatering 275 pounds (shipping both ways included, though, and I'm from Denmark) and a 8-10 week delivery time. Anyway, I'm thinking about having them resoled with Dainite, so I can use them for semi-elegant rainy day boots. By the same token I thought about getting rid of the stom welt and having them replaced by a regular welt, to add to the sleekness-factor (by looking more like the Alderlay) – do you think that's possible?

Cheers,
SKM
