Nice! I had wanted to order the Cranleigh and Galway both on 202 in mink suede and then pick which one I liked better, but I just ordered the Cranleigh in that and Galway on 64 walnut country calf which is on sale. I know that won't be dressy but wanted to try it out at least and have something to pick between!
This may be the first instance on Styleforum where I've seen the peanut gallery recommend restraint, and OP takes it upon himself to do the enabling.
Nicely played!

Well unfortunately one pair needs to go back… probably. I did just mean have options on what to keep!

I’m enjoying the new EG iron waxed suede Leith shoes just purchased from Gentlemens Footwear. They are sturdily built. I like the variegated look of the dark brown waxed suede leather. These are casual shoes I can wear frequently in place of sneakers/ trainers.

I have found the 202E last to be an exceptionally good fit in derby, oxford and laced boot styles.

The EG waxed suede leather collection is also offered at a slightly lower price point than other comparable models. I’m hoping EG can hold off any price increases this year!

Lovely pair of derby shoes. Whilst using what I think is the same leather as C&J’s “Rough Out” suede from Stead’s the EGs have that sturdier, better built , be around forever look, that appeals to me.

82 last is extremely dressy and I've come to sort of resent my MTO Galway for being in it. I have the Newmarket in 303 and it's a much nicer middleground last for boots.

Yeah, I have a Rosewood CC Dainite Galway on 82 and it’s just a bit of a contradiction in terms. A country boot on a city last. Bugs me and I should have known better when I bought it. But got sucked in on a sale. Now I just beat it up treat it like a country boot anyway.

I was in brief possession of a pair of black calf Montpelliers but sadly I had to return them.

Seems to me like the default lasting of loafers has become tighter of late and these were a tad too short and narrow, which is a shame.

I committed a sin and went over to the competition down the street so I now own this slightly unusual but very elegant pair of John Lobb's.

It's really noticeable just how much Hermes have cornered the market on fine leathers. The calf on this Lobb pair is buttery smooth and supple, amazing quality which I haven't seen on any of my EG pairs lately. Maybe my EG Chelseas from a 5 years ago come close. The make and finishing is slightly superior on EG though (heel, welt, etc).

In the meantime EG are getting a pair of black calf Harrows on 61 for me down from the factory. I quite fancy the idea of a pie crust loafer but never tried the 61 last before. How is it in terms of length versus 184?

61 Last has been a mixed bag for me. I would say somewhat comparable to the 184 unlined but fits looser than the lined 184 in my experience. I have one pair in london grain that is great fit. I have 2 other pair that are too big. I sent them back to the factory and they checked against the last and confirmed in spec (whatever that means) and suggested liners in the heel. That helped a bit but still seem to big. After getting the london grain which fit well, I took a chance and ordered a pair in black which unfortunately didn't fit well at all. They had these side gaps. I may order a pair MTO. They would use the same last as the london grain pair that fit me well. I also may consider having them lined. I have both piccadilly and harrow unlined and get a bulge from my pinky toe which seems to fall just behind the lining in the toe.

Thanks! How is the length on 61 versus your 184 for the same size? Do you find you have more space for your toes in terms of length and width?

Length in the pair that fit is comparable. The other pairs seemed longer but didn't measure. There is more room in the toe.

Thank you. I am somewhat encouraged but will report back on Tuesday. Seems to be hit and miss from pair to pair though.

Yeah unfortunately. But that black harrow is nice if you can make it work. I have piccadilly in black and a pair of Weston 180s. I'd like another black loafer and torn between the harrow, monteplier, and belgravia. I came across the piccadilly in black london grain so now that adds to the decision delay. I'd probably go with the Harrow if MTO didn't take so long but guess I don't "need" for a few months here in Chicago.

I took a D rather than an E, and it was the right move for me. Your feet and fit may vary.

Has anyone in the US tried selling their shoes to Leffot? I'm thinking about contacting the shop regarding couple of G&G and EG boots. I assume they offer lower price compared to net proceed from selling on eBay.

Yup, just went through the experience. I will tell you that their price is not low, it is embarrassingly low. It borders on unethically low (more on that in a minute).

They had a pair of Alden shells that I really wanted and as you know, I am close to retirement and simply have to quit buying shoes. So, I got the bright idea to trade a few pairs. I did not try to negotiate and given that no one put a gun to my head, I was fine accepting their offer with the full knowledge that it was not market (or close to it) value. No harm no foul.

Then I saw my EG's listed on their pre-owned site and what they were charging for them and was not happy. I understand all about markup, margins, and the like. But the difference between what they offered me and what they sold them for was really bad. I thought, unethical. I politely sent them an email congratulating them on taking advantage of a stooge like me and additionally, please remove me from your email list as I won't be back.

I am not a complainer (and I think you know that) but this one left me with a really bad taste in my mouth. If you decide to do it, the process itself is pretty easy. Just understand that you are going to get far less than you otherwise would. The price you pay for convenience is really really steep. I can guarantee you they made more money off my trades than they do from selling a new pair. Just didn't feel right.

try talking to Luxeswap on ebay they'll do consignment, and have a ton of exposure on the bay. Otherwise, just have to play the waiting game on ebay or here on SF
