My understanding is that ordering something that’s out of stock on the EG site is essentially akin to preordering the next batch of the shoe for fulfillment when it’s restocked, whereas changing the leather or sole requires changes to the production line which leads to an MTO charge.

yes, I am talking about stock items not in stock. EG replied to me by just mentioning what is in stock and made no offer to have it made at no charge as previously.

Ok here's a different question... if you could have one Galway and one Crangleigh, which makeup of each would you choose? At least one must go well with denim, at least one much go with tailored clothing (e.g., flannel trousers, odd jacket), ideally as much overlap across spectrum of formality as possible.

I know I'd like one to be in suede, I'm not sure whether that more suits the Galway or Cranleigh. For instance, I could see Galway 202 in mink suede and Cranleigh in brown utah, or vice versa, but Galway could obviously go furthest into dress territory depending on makeup. I've also always loved the Rosewood country calf on the Galway 64 but that's taking the more casual end of the dressier boot.

The handsewn apron of the Cranleigh benefits of a lighter coloured leather. I vote Galway in mink suede and Cranleigh in rosewood or similar, plain or grained leather.

Someone mentioned it here last year I believe. Iirc which I honestly don’t said person might have said word came direct from EG store.

Although looking at their catalogue of RTW I haven’t seen any restock of Utah leather shoes and some have been removed entirely. Can’t find any dover models in Utah.

Camdens & Galways in Utah seem to have been restocked because there’s a reasonable selection of sizes at EG.com. The Utah Galways are available for order at Gentlemen’s Footwear and probably elsewhere.

Actually after re-reading the email I think it's the Cranleigh's (not the utah specifically) that are not currently in production. I've asked for clarification and will report back.

I’ve recently warmed up the idea of purchasing the EG waxed suede derby, Leith. Aside from brushing or wiping away dirt. What kind of maintenance/ products are people doing/ using? I have not owned this type of shoe/ boot leather in any brand. I previously didn’t like the matte finish but I’m now beginning to appreciate the practical and very casual look.
