Not much value I can add to the question @multiccy-csa as the leather looks fine to me. Just wanted to say that those are a really nice pickup. Congrats.

Anyone’s insoles come looking like this? These are EG Chelsea Oxfords. Brand new firsts. Both shoes look like this.

My Allen Edmonds and Grant Stones aren’t even anywhere near this

They came out pretty well, but perhaps a little too orange for my liking. I prefer a more nutty brown. Maybe darkening the toes with some brown saphir might do the job.

They look great! I've seen cobblers re-dye leather shoes, it should be doable in any color if you'd like. They usually strip the leather naked and then re-dye. In dark brown these would look great.

They look really good, the colour is lovely in my eyes.

Did you have them refurbished at the factory?
I had them resole them, but they also decided to condition and polish, and put in new insoles. They might have done other stuff too, but thought it was a really good job!
(Although that 'legals' sticker is always leaves a nasty mess)

Sounds like a lot of work. Are they still a bargain in the end?

Hi, I have questions about sizing and upper material.

In terms of quality, durability, scratch resistance, creasing visibility what is best upper material, Utah or London Grain? I checked both today, and looks that London Grain is thicker IMO, means that is better? Do you have long term experience please?

On branock I measured size 7.5 HTB, 7.75 HTT, width E, maybe slightly over E. In Galway boots with last 82 in size 6.5E is fit comfortably snug, length is IMO fine, maybe too loose in heel which cause heel slipping, and maybe too snug in toe. Check pls added photo where pinky toe causing bump and you can see also position of that pinky toe.

Is pinky toe in correct position and width is too narrow, or pinky toe is too in front and width should be fine when I will size up? What is overall correct position of pinky toe? Should be placed before spot where last is tapering, or overlap this spot? In this case I

What is your EG size in compare to branock? Thanks.

I’m a 9 Brannock and wear a 8.5 UK / 9 US on EG. True to size.

IME the widest part of your feet should sit at the widest part of the shoe.

The most important differentiating aspects between the Utah and London Grain is comfort & aesthetic.
The London grain will be very soft and quite supple in feel & wear. As such, once it breaks in you'll get that glove feel. It carries with it a more casual country aura to it

The Utah will have a smarter finish, and appears more classy. It is a little more rigid and should retain its appearance with wear, ie less creasing provided the fit is good.

Both will be durable. Both are high quality. Due to the natural nature of the London Grain it will probably be more scratch resistant, but both should be fine in this regard.

I believe your decision comes down to aesthetic and comfort more than anything else.

I agree that London Grain is more scratch resistant (barely shows up at all if you scratch with your finger nails). Utah is also quite scratch resistant, and due to being quite oily, just some brushing and rubbing will get rid of most scratches.

EG clicking is almost always perfect, and they are both textured calf leathers, so creasing is very fine. Go with the grain you prefer.

I am 11E HTB and take 10.5E (UK) in EG. 0.5 down from US Brannock is the general advice for most lasts. You might want to try F width.

Dark Brown London Grain and Dark Brown Utah Grain on the same Model.

Yes, this is theory which I know as well, but I don't know how this rule apply on that case. Widest part is ara of join ball, but width around fingers is also quite wide.

For on picture is outline of foot. Blue line is area of joint ball and red line is area with fingers, where pinky toe is ending, and as you can see this place has similar width as join ball. Can tell (or draw in picture) where should be widest area of boot positioned? Thanks.
