Okay, I’m bringing the boots instead of sneakers. Hopefully I don’t regret that! If I do, it’s only a short trip haha.
😂 seriously, as good on cobblestones?, SF‘s residency in self delusion is awesome to witness. Surely you have space to shove sneakers in a backpack or something.

What’s so wonderful about sneakers — especially on cobblestones? I’d rather wear something with a firmer sole. Plus the Galways will look better.

I haven't worn sneakers barring for golf or the gym for almost two years and haven't looked back. Boots or dress shoes look better and are more durable

The only styleforum approved shoe when golfing lol

re: Galways, I wanted to share an anecdote I had when I first bought my EG in London now a less than a decade ago. I started with a Chelsea. They sized me up as 9.5UK in E but pointed out that the V shape of my shoes was tight (as I look at them which I am wearing right now, I see around a full cm of gaping at the top). I enquired into a Galway (82) and then when I wore them, the laces did not gap and I was basically told that I could not wear them. Back then I thought that was impressive, as from my C&J times, I did encounter (bar from the Dutch guy in Jermaine Street) quite pushy salesmen. For your reference, I since bought a Field Boot by Sons of Henrey and really like the style, much more than the blunter Coniston, so since knowing that the EG inspiration was strong with the Field Boot by SoH, I wanted to mention that.

What are your comments on that?

Thank you

I don't understand the question. Galway is produced on almost all their lasts... just because 82 presumably didn't work doesn't mean you can't wear them

Allow me to clarify. I was in the store and when I enquired into the Galways, they gave me a 9.5UK in 82 and after reviewing the touching sides (no gap), they concluded that I will not fit any other Galway, neither in size nor last. I left the store happy at first (lack of pushy sales tactics) but now in hindsight I am puzzled as to why they didn't offer me alternatives. My question here is therefore what I should do as I do like a Galway in Utah as an upgrade to my SoH Field Boot in Utah.

This is what I don't follow. They make narrower widths on their lasts as well, so I'd try and find a store where you can try a few more sizes on
