I just searched my email inbox… the repair quote was sent - I replied that was acceptable and gave the go ahead on Nov 24, and EG factory confirmed Nov 26.

I think I will wait another month - then it will be one year exactly - before I politely chase up about it.
You are far too polite, I had 2 pairs of CJ resoled in 8 weeks last summer. I think that's a ludicrous amount of time to wait for something that won't be cheap

No need to wait to inquire if you’re thinking there’s a magic number around the one year point where it becomes appropriate to inquire. You’re well beyond the point of when it would have been rude to prod.

Respectfully, I think you've reached the point where the odds are at best 50/50 that your shoes are lost and EG has no idea what you are even talking about. I have no experience dealing with them for something like this but I'd reach out to them like right now and the least concern on my mind would be whether or not I was polite. But that's just me.

Frankly, assuming that they are not lost, they should waive whatever exorbitant fee they quoted entirely. They should be embarrassed about how poorly they've treated you as a customer.

It's times like this that I truly feel like a NYer even though I no longer live in NY. 🤣

Agreed. I would definitely follow up and I really wouldn’t worry about being polite.

Well, I have the emails, and it was £325 GBP + delivery charges. Ok I will send an email today to ask. I hope they haven’t lost the shoes. 😟

So you ended up spending almost 400 pound sterling (with delivery charges) to wait a year?

This is why I generally recommend finding a good cobbler and doing your work with them...

Yeah. Would be surprised if that were the case. Not like it conveys a benefit in practice and I'd assume that they wouldn't be too willing to change their process.
Me too, but not sure what else they'd be referring to

Good news, EG emailed back to say my shoes have been done and instore but they didn’t have my postcode so they’ve not been sent out. I look forward to getting them soon! 😃 They are acorn Malverns, by the way.

Leather toe puffs maybe?
I'm not even sure I know what that would mean, in practice. Are there other makers that are doing a leather toe puff? Wouldn't it be basically the same as fully unstructured? Sorry for the potentially dumb question here... 🤣

Glad to hear that there is a happy conclusion here... I truly didn't mean to scare you but the "lost in the factory" outcome isn't at all far fetched given what I've seen from another maker (who I will not mention, hahah). In the future, I definitely suggest keeping closer tabs on such things.

Enjoy your shoes!
