Great stuff! Amazing finish on the Inverness
Should be getting a pair myself in a few months. That would break double digits
Those pics are what led me to buy the Inverness - just a great shoe.
What shoe cream or polish do you use on yours? Is that all original burnishing or have you added a little yourself?
I am sure that the EG pics that Nore posted are nice, but I've yet to stop looking at his avatar so I can look at those
My fellow EG aficionados, I am ordering a couple of EG MTOs and have finally after much agonizing come up with the following specs. Any thoughts re: changes that might work a little better would be welcome:
Burnt Pine Antique Calf
Single leather sole
Light Antique Edge trim
Complementary antiqued buckle
Forest Green leather liner
2) Shannon with no cap toe and brogued trim along the upper. Incorporation of toe medallion instead of captoe. It should be a tweaked Shannon model, similar to the following:
Burgundy Antique Calf lower
Mink Suede upper (is there a different suede that might work better?)
Antiqued eyelets and speedhooks
Light Antique Edge trim
Burgundy Antique Leather Pull Tabs
Burgundy leather liner
Thanks everyone for all the enabling. Excited when these finally arrive in the summer.
Since you asked .....
202 last for both models.
No speed hooks on the Shannon's.
i prefer the Oundle with a medallion and on the 888, but that's purely personal pref
7foldtieguy, appreciate the advice. I vacillated back and forth on the speedhooks and may switch back actually. I was just worried that the Shannon is a high boot and that eyelets might make it difficult to take on and off. But I agree with the sentiment generally.
I wanted something sleeker than the 202, which is why I went with the 82. Seems like a happy medium.
Oundle sounds good. It will look like a wholecut from a quick glance (mine does unless I wear trousers with narrow leg openings).
I think with the brogue between the upper and shaft it would make it technically a Shannon II style? I have speed hooks (SH) on my and although I usually do not like boots with SH because they get caught with my pants' hem stitching, this does not happen too much with my Shannons. I think it may be due to the larger SH used by EG. The antiqued edge trim would make a nice contrast.
Where are you ordering from if you don't mind me asking?
Ordering from Edwards of Manchester to take advantage of their sale that just ended. They have been absolutely great to work with (but I can definitely tell they are swamped -- probs lots of SF orders).
I think I may now be swayed to go the no speedhooks route...
Nice CHRK33, it was a pretty sweet deal. Keep us posted! I ordered a pair of Inverness that was on backorder so it will take a couple of months in addition to a pair of C&J Weymouths (passed on GG wholecuts for now). Oh yeah, I ordered enough shoe trees to make half of the forest in Northampton barren.
There's something lovely about a pair of wholecuts in chestnut tan with a nice camel toe.
Shoes are great but the new avatar is outstanding.
I use Saphir cream products in similar colors as the leather on the shoe. Those are factory antique finishes on all three shoes.
