As do I like them very much. Different strokes for different folks, which is why I'm glad eg offers so many models

Each to their own, as equally I cannot fathom the fascination for the "chunky" C&J Shell Shoes for Ralph.....

Took a couple of days, but here's the comparison I promised.

From left to right: Hazel Antique, Burnt Pine, Burgundy Antique, and Dark Oak.

As you can see, the hazel antique is a touch deeper, richer, more saturated color. The burnt pine is a little grayer and washed out. Both are very nice IMO. I've only used neutral polish on these.

I've included a white card so you can white balance on your own screens.

    Thanks, Longmorn.

Hazel kind of looks like a slightly less yellow version of chestnut? I still think burnt pine would make for a great looking Dover, but hazel and burnt pine are edging out here.

No problem. Maybe less red rather than less yellow, but I think either color would work on Dover. I think chestnut would be too strong a color with that strong (and wide-looking) a shape.

Hm, would you feel that way if it was the Halifax? Basically the chukka version of the Dover? I was thinking about order two Dovers - one in suede and one in calf - and then a Halifax in chestnut.

I may not be the right person to ask, because while I like the Dover in the 606 last on the shelf, I found it kind of inelegant when I had it on. As a result, I think it looks best in colors that slightly de-emphasize its shape and scale, rather than emphasizing it. Between the three you mentioned, I'd go for the Burnt Pine - almost like a paler version of Dark Oak. Just my two cents.

With all this talk about the Dover, just curious what the opinions are about it's sleeker relative?: The Ecton

I personally like the Ecton better, but YMMV.

Dover should be on 82 last for best results :nodding:

Edward Green won't make a (MTO) Dover on the 82 (anymore), only on the 606 or 32 if I recall correctly.

Fair enough. I'm a big fan of the Dover, and think it looks best on the 606, but understand it's not to everyone's taste.

As for the Ecton, I think the quarters look too empty compared to the Dover. You should note that the last is different than the design. The Ecton doesn't have to be built on that sleeker last.

I think so too- looks a little bit longer and sleeker, but it's not a deal breaker IMO (^^ on the 82 in dark oak willow)
