1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Thx! The only problem is that I don't like my other boots as much as I used to now!

Those Galways look great. Did you treat the leather prior to wearing them in the wet?

I now have three pairs; picked up a pair of Holland & Holland-branded Galways in rosewood off an SF member last week...

    Thank you!
Yes, I gave them a couple of layers of saphir medaille d'Or and pate de luxe and suede protector spray.

Did you pick your true EG size for Last 64 or need to size up or down...Im a 8.5E in the 202 and 82, both of which are oxford designs and fit really perfect. I wonder if I should take an 8.5E or maybe size down since the boots will normally be a bit big.

This is my first EG-pair som I'am afraid that i cant't help you very much :(, however the sale's manager att Jermyn street wrote me up to be the same size in 82/202 (size 7, the very size i wear in CJ and Carmina). But as you say it is a bit tricky to compare boot-size to those of regular designed shoes. I wish you luck in your boot hunt. Perhaps a size 8 will be perfect?

Do those still have veldt construction? I really like the dark oak with the mink suede

    All in good time!

This will have to do for now; the rosewood colour is a little darker than 'normal' as I waxed the boots last night. The boots seem to be an 'F' fitting on the 64 last (they aren't marked like regular EG Galways). This is possibly the quintessential English field boot:

And a little pic from an old Holland & Holland catalogue, I think, with all sorts of nice things:

Nothing for water-proofing? Some sno-seal or Obenauf's would be a good way of protecting the leather...
