For the savings and how everybody raves about Vass on here, I believe I'm going to go with the Vass U last. I saw these and I can't stop staring.

Warning:

If at all possible, try on the U-last before trying to guess your size.

Ahhh I know! For the past hour I've just been reading reviews about how tricky it is.

I've seen an offering from Vass though that is very similar, the Austerity brogue on the U last. Which do you guys think is better bang for the buck? I'm having trouble getting a price on Vass, can somebody link me to that?

Thanks in advance!

Between Vass and Edward Green, I would go with EG. I like Vass but not the douchebags that tend to be attracted to them on this site. They're quite offensive with their willingness to trash every other
maker of shoes.

Actually, it's just one - admittedly colossal - douchebag, a dyed in the wool regional shoe supremacist.

I generally wear Euro 46 in standard width shoes

As to Vass, I wear a Euro 45.5 on the their Budapester last since it better accomodates my high instep and has more toe box room

I wear a Euro 46 in a standard width on the U last. I first tried the Euro 45.5. and found the shoe to be a tad bit too short and narrow. The 1/2 size up assisted me so that the shoe was of proper width & not narrow.

Many U lasted shoes have shown up on the B&S threads because folks gambled on the size. Caveat Emptor

I own both 888 & U lasted shoes. It is individual taste...but the overall U last shape...not just its toe box, fits my entire foot better and looks a lot nicer...especially on the Vass Old English II design

Who are you referring to? If I may ask.
