this will sound corny, but I loved the McMahon/Carson give and take, particularly the Carnac bits. McMahon had a weird mix of camp and irreverence that worked for him. He was also a war hero. Loved him on the Larry Sanders show when he did a cameo and Hank on that show did a great McMahon to Shandling's Carson.

I lived in the same town as Ed McMahon while the Tonight Show was still broadcast from NYC. Ed was always friendly around town and quite charming. His kids were were very nice and I recall going over to their house for a keg (of Budweiser of course). It was really sad to see him over the last couple of years going through hard times and poor health. I have many fond memories of watching him with Johnny Carson in the 70's. That was very entertaining.
