Hello All

My son needs some economic rubber-soled (e.g Dainite) black Oxfords for winter formalwear.

Samuel Windsor has some, but the leather looks a little hard.

Can anyone suggest a UK maker what is decent quality but reasonably priced please?

What is reasonably priced? It will be hard/impossible to find anything new under $100 USD that is decent quality.

You could certainly find gently used shoes on eBay for under $100. I have a ton of Allen Edmond shoes from eBay that were under $100.

In terms of new shoes. Not in UK, but European.

Meermin: $195 USD

Bexley: $109 USD

Yanko $234 USD

In the UK, check Pediwear.

They have a few models under $200.

I'll send you a bill for my personal shopper fee.

Thanks.

I was looking at Pediwear earlier and the Edward & James, but I don't know the brand.

What price range are you looking?

I think it is going to have to be up to £200.

The Loake Woodstock are ok for the money. Not the last word in manufacturing quality, but they look okay and are comfy (I have some).

Check out Herring Shoes (dot co dot uk). They have some good made in Spain options as well as Loake in that range.

I've looked and didn't see anything that drew my attention.

I've never found Herrings to be that great value, except for the period when they had 50% off all stock a few years ago, in association with Greypaul car dealership.

I would go with Loake or Pavers/Jones for a budget choice.
