Anyone have any experience with these? I'm not looking for anything high-end, just a good pair of decent dress shoes. Nordstrom is having their men's half-yearly sale and I'm thinking about buying a pair of $100. I've heard good things about this brand like the fit and comfort, plus they offer to give you a new pair if it's completely worn out.

Anyone else familiar with these or have any other recommendations for the same price range?

Decent and comfortable, yes. If you like (or can live with) the way they look and know that you're not going to get anything special, why not. Ecco is a very popular brand with "normal" (non-SF, that is) people over here.

I would agree. They're fairly durable and quite comfortable, but not particularly stylish.

I always thought they seemed pretty comfortable. Sort of like a cheaper Mephisto? I actually wanted Ecco golf shoes for a while and never got them, and now I don't play any more.

It's a socially conscious Danish company that does all aspects of their shoe production themselves, with factories in Europe rather than Chinese sweatshops. (Mine "business boots" are made in Portugal).

I have a pair for walking to the bus on rainy days. They are very comfortable for that, and walking back to the bus after work, but I'd never let myself be seen in them for more than 30 consecutive minutes. Soon as I'm under a roof, into my bag they go and I put something nicer on. Eccos are oogly.

I have had a pair for about four years and they still look and feel good. Agree that they are perfect for rainy days because of their durability. Disagree with the general proposition that they are ugly. I wouldn't wear mine with a tuxedo, but if your primary criteria are budget (say less than $200) and practicality, I'd put Ecco near the top of the list.

Ecco for women are more fashion-forward than Ecco men.

Very comfortable, but I'd say there generally better for a more casual look.

I think they get a harder than deserved rap here. I have a pair of their higher end dress shoes, and they are not ugly. Not gorgeous, but not ugly. They're also quite comfortable, being as easy to break in as my Allen Edmonds.

They do have many ugly models, but most other manufacturers have an ugly design or two as well. Just pick a style you like.

My physiotherapist recommends them but the styles and leather quality put me off.

They seem to have repositioned themselves from the 'health' to the 'fashion' market in the last few years.

they're extremely comfy but the soles don't last long. the rubber eventually starts disintigrating. happened to both pairs of my old ecco's before I knew better. took about two years of wear as my beater shoes.

Crap. Think of PVC siding. Think of the people who hire the people to staple it on. Think of used car dealerships. Think of the little triangular plastic flags flapping in the light. Those are those shoes. Don't do it. Don't do it.

Another brand to consider in the same price range would be Rockport.
