ebayed sportcoat: good bad fugly?

hi all...ive been happily lurking through these forums for a while now and decided to finally jump into the fray. what does everyone think about this jacket? its my first sportcoat and the dimensions are pretty close to my tailor measured shirt sizes. my office does the whole corporate casual thing and those nylon 'hipster' jackets are starting to get old. what type and color trousers would go best with it?

Set up an automatic eBay search - there'll be plenty more where this came from. How old are you, what industry are you in? The two-roll-three is very nice and it's an attractive tweed although perhaps a bit brown and a bit loud for business casual. And I assume you mean tailor-measured suit sizes? (And what do you mean by that, exactly?)

That is a nice Trad tweed, but with an offer of much less. I recommend you tweed pants, or corduroy (light brown).

im just pushing 30, medium build, 5' 7" asian dude in the staffing business.

ive already had some custom shirts made for me (after finally getting fed up with parachute puff sticking out of my back) and the measurements he gave me are very very close to the ones on this coat.

Lovely tweed, but also quite heavy. It might be a good time of the year to start thinking about spring/summer weights.

That price is too high for a non-new Brooks, although I'd rather have that one than a new Brooks. You likely can pick up something similar for 1/2-2/3 of the final price of that auction.

Jacket is OK (certainly not fugly) but you paid a high price for a "Gently used Brooks Bros." via Ebay.

Stick with SF and you will learn quality and value.

BTW: Jared, what do you mean by "scooped?".

Brooks Bros. coats generally don't sell for a lot on Ebay. Here's a NWT (New with tag) sz. 39S that is selling for $24.95, if it sells at all. It is also newer than the coat you bought which can be discerned by the label style:

Congrats and welcome to participation in SF! I think you will be a lot happier than the "nylon hipster jacket look".

I'll bet that seller is happy. $75 for a used BB jacket that was probably made many years ago! I guess they haven't changed much, but still.

I thought the original 'scooped" comment was in response to someone other than the OP buying the jacket. Maybe that's not the case?

yea, im getting the feeling that i overpaid for the jacket in either case. then again, im a new yorker so that 75 seems like a steal to me even for used goods

We'll very soon seen if it works. My concern is that a jacket is measured from the exterior, so it's obviously supposed to be a bit bigger than a shirt. This jacket is tagged 40, measured 44" (I'd say that was a 42, but I assume BB is boxy?), so it should fit someone with a 40 - 41" chest?
