eBay: try to fix shrunken cashmere, or return?

Thought I got a great J Crew cashmere v-neck for $30 on eBay. It came today, and it looks like it's been ruined in the laundry. The size isn't that bad (the seller said it fit smaller than it was tagged, so I factored that in when I bought it), but it has that look of cashmere that's gone through the wash "” a half-inch halo of fuzz surrounding it (see the attached photo). Plus, after wearing it for a couple minutes, my shirt underneath was covered in wool sheddings.

Thing is, the seller's new to eBay, and I really don't feel like the hassle of a return if it can be salvaged. Is there any cheap way I can return the wool's texture to something approximating a normal cashmere sweater?

I doubt it.

I've never seen wool damaged and then returned to a semi original state. You should return it. The seller almost certainly knew what they were selling you.

Once my wife shrunk a wool benetton sweater in the dryer by accident, that thing was so tight and stiff when it came out it looked like cardboard. She insisted on trying it on our daughter anyway and she looked like Miss Robato walking around fighting to bend her arm.

Send a compliant note, and if they dont comply, file a paypal dispute for item not as described.

There's no way to fix it once it's 'fulled' like that. Return it, or bite the bullet.
