Dear Folks:

I usually end my auctions on Sunday eve, but I am also mindful of competing with major holidays, like Xmas Eve and New Years in 2006.

Next Sunday eve is The Game. Have you found that your auctions closing on Superbowl Sunday do less well? Would you advise closing on Mon or Tues instead?

I always put snipes in for auctions that end on every major holiday (and the superbowl counts). I've gotten a few great deals on superbowl nights but much less than other holidays. Auction prices will definately drop.

My friend studied this when wanting to sell his ps3(before the oversaturation). The best times are weekdays during normal hours and never later than 9. If you want it to end on an evening, pick a weekday no later than 8. If it's something that people will definitely bid on, you will lose bids having it late night. Just letting you know. Superbowl sunday for an end time is fine if you want to sell your items for less. Middle of the day is usually best.

Buying things that end really late at night are great ways to find things cheaper when you're buying though.

I'm no expert, but I've always heard from Ebay sellers that Sundays are the best close day. And I notice that Mack does that.

I don't have a definitive answer to your question, but why not try a split closing with some items closing Sunday(before game time), and some items closing on Monday evening.

As an aside. I think for the big Ebay sellers with lots of traffic, the closing day doesn't matter much. For blondys_bay in clothes, and Grapevinehill in shoes, they can, and do close any day of the week. But note that even they do not close auctions late at night.

I think the time of day is just as important as the day of the week, for maximum exposure and highest bid. I would think 8:30 Eastern would be about optimal. What do you think Mack?

My auctions usually end between 8 and 9 EST on Sundays.

This week I also have some ending at that time on Wednesday.
