I keep seeing shoes listed as 'Alden' (like these here) that have a very different logo than the one I am used to. Is this very clean, sans-serif logo actually older than the current, very old-fashioned looking logo? Are they an altogether different line? Just curious....

Alden has two lines - Alden and Aldenthedic. Others here would know more than me about this, but the Aldenthedic line is geared towards orthopedic shops and uses different lasts that a trained pedorthist can access to help with specific issues.

IMO, this ("Aldenpedic") is an inferior product that is no longer sold in Alden retail stores or in the Alden website. I have two pair of these "bargain" shoes that have shiny, plastic-feeling leather, large crude stitching, and rubber heels. Generally, I am a big Alden fan but not for these.
