Yes, soft, plasticky, and maybe corafam, or corrected leather/book binder. They have an unnatural shine. But for the price I paid, they are nice addition to my collection of mostly LWBs. 70s eh? Wow. Older than me! They were NOS so will last me for decades.
Thanks for the info! What vintage Canadian brands do you have? Post some shoe Appreciation for us!!!

You're welcome. Lotion them to keep them soft and supple. They were probably made by Church's of England for Eatons.
To answer your question; I own several pair of Hartt, Dack's, (both by Hartt and Church's) but no longer have my McHales, which I let go years ago (now regrettably) and old Florsheim which were also made in Canada. I'll probably post them in the fall as I am not very active during the warmer months. Congratulations of your purchase. Keep up the good work.

P.S.: Both Dack's and Hartt have come back to life by a new generation of entrepeneurs. Matthew Dack is importing rebranded Cheaney's of England, while Hartt has a manufacturer in Spain producing their new line.
It will be a long climb, but I hope they make it, or, combine their efforts to keep the names alive.

Yes, I keep tabs on both Hartt and Dacks.

I am always looking to buy the current Dacks. But the current Hartt... Meh. For that price, I expect made in England or Canada.

I did email Hartt and asked if they have intentions to bring manufacturing back to Canada. They danced around and said maybe, if they can make a business case. To me, that's a solid no.
