Earnest Sewn shrinkage question

I'm having a hard time getting a good fit on the Earnest Sewn Filsons. I bought a pair of 34 and had to return them because they were too tight. I have a pair of 36 now, and they fit OK, but are about a half-inch too loose around the waist. I was wondering if washing them in hot water and running them through the drier would get me the right amount of shrinkage.

FWIW, the tag says Milk Blue 3D, which I guess is the wash. The tag also says Filson #05, whatever that means, maybe a different model of the Filsons?

My experience with ES is that they stretch out quite a bit, and when you wash them hot + dryer, they'll shrink some but they usually stretch back out within one wear. You should have stuck with the 34 because they really do stretch.

stu, i did the same thing as you - the 34 was form fitting but i felt it would be too tight and went up to a 36 which was too big but i thought with washing and drying, it would shrink and it didn't

i've soaked and washed in hot water and then dried on hot heat for 30-40 minutes several times and there is minimal shrinkage but there is stretch after wearing them again

should have stuck with the 34

as such, i've given up and given the 36 away
