Read the descriptions for each.

They have different frames, some don't come with the ottoman, and some have premium leather.

Thanks. I think I just have to go in and look at swatches. There should be a lot more options than what's online, anyway.

Isn't that what Design Within Reach is infamous for?

Zjpwhatever is one of the richest members of SF. Why would he buy a knockoff? He lives on a coca plantation the size of New Zealand. And just for reference - the lowliest and least paid of his manservants as his daily driver, rolls around in a Jag XJ220. He was considering buying the entire city of New Orleans, post Katrina - just so he could raze and use the land as an adequate sized base for the statue he's erecting of himself standing atop his pile of money. He decided to just have CERN build him a time machine so that he could go back in time and have Van Gogh paint it instead.

the ones at DWR are real, they may have sold replicas a few years ago (they did for the Barcelona chairs at least).

All true.

I ordered walnut with brown leather (not the "chocolate" that they stock - slightly lighter).

There's the Barcelona Chair that somebody mentioned where DWR wanted to have it both ways-
they said their Barcelona Chair was "made to precise specifications of the original design" but didn't want to pay the licensing fee of the original design.

At least, with the Barcelona Chair, DWR didn't have the hubris to try to sell their knock offs for the same price as the licensed original which you couldn't say with a lot of their stuff these days. A lot of DWR's stuff are unauthorized reproductions when you could have gotten the original for practically the same price.

What DWR does is tweak it enough ever so slightly somewhere to avoid lawsuits, even though its essentially the same design. But, that hasn't stopped a couple of companies from filing lawsuits against DWR. One of them even claimed that DWR used the original design in DWR's catalog instead of DWR's knockoff.
