Just to follow up, I did end up purchasing a pair of the EG Cappelli cufflinks - I was able to send payment via paypal and the links are in transit now. I'll post a pic or two once I have them.

They did have a matching 7-fold which I passed on for now - I have a few EGC ties on the way as well. But I may circle back to it, those 7-folds are sumptuous.

With the strength of the dollar to the euro right now, it's taking every ounce of my willpower not to go on an absolute tear on wool challis and madder silk ties. But my lady friend has informed me that we're saving for a new kitchen. So for now, I'm avoiding marital calamity. Time will tell how long my resolve holds out.

I've been reading through some of the reviews here and it sounded like the 3-folds were fairly substantial, so I decided to start there before trying the thicker 5 or 7 folds. I went with a handful of 3-fold outlet ties - which seemed like good value at roughly USD $70 per tie.

Unfortunately, my iPhone has reached its storage limit so I'm getting a message that I have no more space for photos. I'll take a picture when I get home this evening (I certainly don't mind you asking!)

I think the three folds you mention are huge value for money. There was an EGC Floral selling for US170 on fleabay that you could pick up from Pat new for 70!

I haven't worn them yet but definitely pleased with how they look and feel I have 7-folds from Kiton, Borrelli, as well as Passagio Cravatte, and these 3-folds seem just slightly less substantial in comparison (but perhaps my mind is playing tricks on me). Curious to see an EGC 7-fold in the flesh now. . .
