Are you a gambling man? You find this "great item" on e-bay priced at a fraction of the cost (e.g. a $1200 jacket for $25). The picture is crap and seller doesn't respond to questions, but has good feed back. What do you do? Downside is $25, upside is thrifting triumph! Are you a gambling man?

as long as his feedback is 99%+, I'd gamble for "$1200 sold for $25"

I'd roll the dice for $25. North of ~$50, I'd start taking feedback more into account.

I rolled the dice recently with a guy with zero feedback and got some lovely shell cordovan loafers for cheapo.

It's very hit or miss. For all the money I've saved on Ebay (thousands and thousands) I've also wasted hundreds of dollars on stuff that's been in bad condition and/or hasn't fit me.

should be said, however, that this situation is usually avoidable. Sellers learn quickly to respond to questions by the second posting of the same item, and 99% of the time i request better photos via email, the seller snaps a few and sends them to me.

I buy on ebay a LOT, but only certain items/ from certain sellers. Once in a blue moon i'll buy from an unknown, but only on items like Borrelli shirts and other very high end items.

If you'd like to see some of the stuff i've purchased recently, styleforum members can feel free to look at my ebay feedback-- The_Foxx
I think ebay CAN be a great sartorial resource, if used wisely and when using trusted sellers.
