Yes it's possible but the threads will more than likely not take dye as most threads are polyester. So you would probably wind up with contrast stitching.

I think a professional can do it well. There are plenty of designers that first construct garments and then overdye them. Comme des Garcons does it all the time. I am just not sure if there are places that provide such services to the individual.

Just beware that a bad (black) dye job will run on other clothing as well as while being drycleaned. you do need to find a good place, and frankly, I think this is much more trouble than it'd be worth.
