I have some friends who want to dye a cashmere sweater. It says it is dry clean only.
I don't really know much about dry cleaning to be honest. My guess is there is some sort of finish applied on top of the garment, so that is why it is labelled dry clean only?
For example there are silk dresses that are dry clean only, and it's because some silks retain a natural gum that makes the fabric crisp, so washing is not recommended. The crispness becomes part of the dress's quality/design...
