Dye C&J Weymouth Black - Who?

Whattup,

The leather on my relatively new C&J Weymouth's looks like crap. They're about 8 months old or so, been worn maybe 30-40 times.

Though advertised as dark brown (and they arrive that way), wearing them completely washes out the color in most parts of the shoe.

See the 3rd picture: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread...53#post3334253

I expect comments like "moisturize them," but I assure you that is not the issue, the crust leather just looks ******.

Anyway, I'm not willing to wear them anywhere the way they look now (don't like brown for bars/night-time, and look too ****** in daytime), so I wonder if they can be dyed black, who would be good for doing that, and how much it costs? Suggestions?

I'm thinking black because that must be the hardest to screw up. Would they still have a "pale" quality due to the crust leather, even after being dyed?

Crazy. Contact C&J is you are bothered by it - they maybe able to restore the colour. To honest, all you need is a bit of dark brown shoe cream (e.g. Lobb cream). I have restored colour to a pair of brown shoes - simply add a touch here and there and work in, then wax polish when dry.

Why would he contact C&J? There's nothing wrong with the shoes.

+1

Remove the existing layers of wax and work in the cream - not familiar with Lobb but Saphir works wonders.

Its called ugly discoloration, champ.

The leather just looks cheap. I haven't had this happen with my cheaper shoes, or my more expensive ones. Pretty dissapointing.

I've tried applying darker creams/polishes as well (after renovateur), no gain once they've been worn once/twice.

My EGs and G&G's don't demonstrate this at all, and I'm actually extremely happy with my black C&J's, which look almost brand new after a year and lots of wear.

I guess I'll see by B. Nelson and see what he thinks.

EDIT: After I noticed this trait, I searched and found a few other posts complaining about this as well.

I don't see how they've aged any differently than your other shoes in that post.

The creases do appear lighter in colour than the rest of the shoe (but same thing shows on your other pairs). If that's what you're alluding to, just brush vigorously across the creases to remove wax buildup.

Don't many people pay a premium for shoes that look like that? I thought that kind of color evolution was one of the perks of buying really expensive brown shoes. If I want shoes to stay the same color I'll stick with my Ferragamos and Pradas.
