The wife persuaded me last night. My review follows:

I thought the writing was very clever - a very well done caper movie. the supporting cast was quite good and a lot of fun. The scenes of Rome, NYC, and other locales were lots of fun. My biggest problem was that I found neither of the leads convincing in this romantic caper movie. Moreover, while I get that women might find Clive Owen to be hot; post-baby, 42 year old Julia Roberts just did not work at all as the femme fatale. She is not aging well.

she looked better in the scene when she was disheveled getting out of the bed after she had drugged clive than she was in the rest of the movie.

she isn't aging well.

I will never willingly watch a movie that stars Julia Roberts.

Pretty Woman is one of my all time favorites. Watched it when I was eleven. It is responsible for many of my penchants: 3-piece suits, Lotuses, my car, champagne and straweberries, redheads, and many other of the finer things. I have no plans to go see this movie though. ~ H

I sympathize with this POV. However, Closer wasn't spoiled by her presence. Having seen Croupier and Children of Men recently, I have come to like Clive Owen's performances.
