Dunhill Ensign Holdall - Opinions?

I've been looking for a nice weekend bag for a while and might get the Dunhill Ensign - what's everyone's views?

I can get it for £190 so doesn't seem too bad price wise?

The design is quite unusual - quite like a cricketers bag. I was considering this myself, but I thought the leather too dark a brown for my taste. They retail for £550 so £190 is quite a saving. Is this at an outlet?

Yeah was an outlet sale in London - I ended up buying one. I quite like the unusual shape. Seems really well made too. Suppose it does look a little like a gym bag. Looks a bit weird unless it's filled properly otherwise the handles kind of make it collapse in on itself.

Also, I hate piping on bag seams, briefcases, etc. Does anyone else share this hatred? Probably from childhood memories riding in an Oldsmobile Delta 88 with pleather seats.

I don't like it on briefcases. Don't think it's too bad on holdalls / weekend bags.

Fair do's. Personally I wouldn't go for a light leather on a weekend bag / holdall because of the way it will be used / tossed around.

You usually pick nice stuff Stephen but personally I think this is a miss.

A classic style would be more suitable. This kinda looks like an enchilada.

I had one of these but sold it after a few months. As mentioned, you need to really fill it up to allow the bag to retain its shape. Overall, a very good quality bag and the leather is really awesome as with their range of leather products. Somehow it was kinda of a miss for me.

Exactly the same as me. If you didn't fill it - the handles pulled the sides up - making it look like a hot dog. Sold it on eBay.

+1 on the quality of leather.
